Since then he’s written getting on fifty books, almost all of them on a little old portable typewriter – one draft, to see what he’s got, and what else he needs to know and so on; then a bit of research; then a complete rewrite, beginning to end; and then, if all’s well, only a bit more tinkering. Sometimes it takes a few month, sometimes a year or more. He’s just moved over to a PC. He’s still getting used it. It makes writing seem a very different kind of process – easier in some ways, harder in others
I can’t say it often enough that I’m not in control: the story is. There’s some chicken-or-egg about it: am I the way I am because of the stories that come to me to be written, or do the stories come to me to be written because I am the way I am?
If you check out the sites she has designed, listed on this page, you'll notice that the sites have a page "for writers" on them. Be sure to check them out.
Some of the links on her list don't go to any pages anymore... here are a couple of ways to get around that. One way is to remove some of the link to see if it takes you to a page that does have info on it. This link doesn't go to a page anymore:
And it took me to the main page of the website. I then looked for links to articles, info, etc. I discovered that her site is by membership only, so I did a google search with the info on the links page where I found the link.
This page lists some romance writers, and mentions some book & magazine publishers where they have been published. If you're a romance writer, you should google those publishers and check out the submission requests. Also click on their names and check out their websites for other interesting links, articles, etc. You never know what you may find... and please share whatever it is.

Mercedes Lackey also wrote the words to the song: "Arafel's Lament", which is based upon "The Tree of Swords and Jewels" by C. J. Cherryh (also re-published in "The Dreaming Tree"). "Lament", and others, were recorded on a 1992 album from Firebird, with music by Leslie Fish and vocals by Heather Alexander. "Lament" can be heard on the FIREBIRD website.
